Post War - Modern
After WW2 there was a tremendous demand for housing and a severe shortage of building materials. But homes were built in ever increasing numbers and gradually the supply of materials improved.
The shortage of materials resulted in some compromises in design. Small windows, small rooms and one bathroom were normal.
Cornices were usually selected by the what's available method.
Many of these homes are now being renovated and extended with the necessity of matching existing cornices or replacing the existing completely.
By the end of the 1960s society had returned to normal production and larger homes with more adventureous designs were being constructed. This trend has continued to the present day.
CN26
Ceiling: | 80.00 mm |

Wall: | 100.00 mm |
Length: | 3.90 m |
Another variation on the bell & bows theme, CN26 was designed after the Victorian era but includes element of a classical Victorian cornice.
It has been used extensively in homes built since World War 2 but would not be out of place in a Victorian extension.
