Classical Cornices
The Classic cornices are those inspired by the timeless designs of ancient times. They derive from Ancient Greece and Rome, renaissance Europe and Georgian England.
The acanthus leaf and cyma recta curve were products of ancient Greece where they were revered as "perfect" design elements.
Georgian England produced the dentil design. The Georgian period produced what many believe to be the most "elegant architecture" ever built. Certainly dentil cornices provie an elegant simplicity at much at home in a contemporary apartment as an original Georgian town house.
