Victorian Ceiling Roses

Roses of the Victorian era
Ceiling roses were the area of architecture where the Victorians allowed themselves to freely express their love of intricate design.
The houses usually had ceilings at least 3.0 metres high often up to 3.6 metres. This enabled them to have large ornate roses without overpowering the room.
How ornate you want your rooms to be is up to you. Durning Victorian times the formal rooms; longe, dining, drawing room and entry were usually highly decorated and the rest of the house quite plain. The current trend is towards using some ornamentation in most if not all rooms. Why not have a ceiling rose in the bathroom, for like the bedroom it is one of the few rooms you will lie down in.
With the exception of a few oval designs all Victorian ceiling roses were circular. This worked well in the relatively small rooms of the 19th centuary but in todays larger rooms especially a combined family dining kitchen it may be neccessay to use two or even three roses to maintain a sense of balance.

Large Victorian Ceiling Roses
The roses on this page our our largest.
The oval rose RO70 can be used on a 2.4 metre ceiling or higher. RO4171, RO206 and RO2211 will work as low as 2.7 metre ceiling height.
RO74, RO202 and RO203 are ideal at 3 metres, probably a bit big at 2.7 unless the room is very large and OK at 3.3 metres.
The larger roses RO2056, RO2055 (our most detailed and ornate rose), RO2010 and RO2058 all need at least 3 metres and look good at 3.6 or even higher.
RO211 Fern is unique in our range. This rose is very detailed and three dimensional, it is not for everyone but looks stunning in the right room.
